Home Brewery FAQs

How hard is it to set up a home brewery?
Most home brewing equipment is relatively inexpensive and simple to use. In many cities, residents have access to a local brewing supplier from which to purchase their equipment and ingredients. There are also many online sources from which these supplies can be purchased.

What is a brew kettle?
The brew kettle is the container in which the beer ingredients are initially cooked. For most home brewing operations, a simple 5-10 gallon stock pot will do the trick, but there are more "specialized" options as well.

What is the difference between micro brewing equipment and home brewing equipment?
Home brewing systems are generally small, with beer being produced in batches of five to ten gallons. Micro brewing equipment has a much larger capacity, with some having capacities of well over 500 gallons. These systems are also much more expensive, often costing tens of thousands of dollars.
